Further Adventures in New York and Fact-Checking

I went down to New York yet again this past week. I got to see Josh Johnson do standup comedy, and I got to attend a taping of The Tonight Show. Both were a ton of fun, and I’m glad I went down there. I got called on for some crowd-work, including getting instantly picked for Q&A, yet again. It was a really fun experience, and I think it’s the last chance I’ll have for a good long while to actually see the shows in person, since I’ve now made a circuit of all the New York late-night talk-shows.

(That said, I’m also pretty exhausted from all the bus trips, and I’m glad I’m taking a month or so off from traveling to New York. I’ll be back down for one more stand-up show later this summer.)

I’ve also reached out to a few more people about potentially getting help checking my story, and though I’m still very much in the early stages, I’m a little hopeful. I got a response back from one, and he was at least willing to hear me out, which is encouraging. I don’t know if he’ll ultimately be comfortable, but I hope so.

How do I balance the need to cling to hope that I might get some sort of resolution…with the need for realistic expectations that the chances appear vanishingly small that anyone will ever actually check the story?

I don’t know what to do with that. Maybe I never will.

I know this isn’t a particularly long or in-depth blog post, but I felt I needed to post something just to note what I’ve been up to and thinking about. To document my thought-processes.
